My research interests are focusing on extracellular vesicles (EVs) and their role in cancer biology. [A] Interleukin-1 (IL-1) is one of the prominent tumorigenic inflammatory cytokines. I wish to characterize the inflammatory and oncogenic effects of IL-1 dependent EVs on triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) cells using in-vitro and in-vivo models.
[B] Acidovorax temperans (A. temperans), a gram-negative bacterium, is abundant in lung tumors, and its abundance was associated with lung cancer development. I aim to define the potential role of EVs shed by A. temperans (referred to as outer-membrane–vesicles; OMVs) in modulating the host cells towards malignant phenotype.
